Two young athletes from the Hoopa Valley Tribe took a powerful step onto the national football stage—and college football recruiters should be paying close attention.
Our Youth Interns Uriah Cheng and Allen Kane both proud members of the Hoopa Valley Tribe and standout athletes at Hoopa Valley High School, were selected to compete in the prestigious Native All-American Game hosted by the Native American Athletic Foundation (NAAF) in partnership with the NFL and the Minnesota Vikings. This elite event brought together the top 70 Native American High School Football Players from across the country, offering them national exposure, high-level coaching, and an unforgettable competitive experience.
A Week of Growth, Exposure, and Opportunity
Throughout the week leading up to the game, Uriah and Allen gained invaluable insight from experienced coaches and volunteers, learning not only advanced football concepts but also the discipline, leadership, and accountability required at the next level. The experience extended far beyond the field.
The athletes toured U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings, and had the opportunity to meet Actor Chance Rush, Former Coach Pete Cordelli and former NFL Players Derek Fine and Jeremiah Brown, Former College Standout Mason Fine—connections and moments that inspired them and reinforced what is possible through dedication and hard work.
Lifelong Teammates, National-Level Competitors
Uriah and Allen have been playing football together since they were just eight years old, growing up as teammates, competitors, and brothers on the field. At the Native All-American Game, they found themselves on opposite teams, yet they shared the journey together—representing their community, their tribe, their school and cultural background with pride.
