Fire Smoke Safety: Staying Safe During Wildfire Season
Wildfire smoke contains dangerous pollutants that can harm your health.
Wildfires are becoming more frequent and intense, exposing more of our community to unhealthy smoke. Smoke contains fine particles and gases that can irritate eyes and lungs .People with heart/lung conditions, elders, children are especially at risk. There are things you can do to reduce your smoke exposure.
Use Air Filters and Purifiers

Stay inside with windows/doors closed.

Use high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters and purifiers.

Consider a cleaner air shelter if smoke is very heavy.
Wear a Mask Outdoors

N95 or P100 masks offer the best protection.

Make sure mask fits tightly.

Limit strenuous activity that increases breathing rate.

Monitor Local Air Quality Reports
